The Office of Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) have launched their community contract fund. This year the funding is focusing on two distinct product safety themes:
- Theme 1: Product Safety Community Awareness
- Theme 2: Risks of fires associated with e-bikes, e-scooters, conversion kits, their batteries and chargers.
The aim of the community contract funding is for consumers to be better educated about product safety related risks and be empowered to keep themselves and others safe. Funding is available for projects under £10,000 (excluding VAT). There are no restrictions on who can apply for funding, but applications must be completed by Friday 6 December.
Projects that successfully receive funding will need to be delivered between January and March 2025.
The OPSS will fund activity that:
- Improves consumer awareness about how to choose and use products safely
- Provides consumers with product safety education or advice
- Empowers consumers to take action to protect themselves and others from product related harm
- Falls within their remit. They cannot fund bids about food, chemicals, medical products or vehicles.
Organisations who wish to apply should visit OPSS community funding for product safety webpage.
