Vacancy: Dyfed Powys MAPPA Lay Advisor

There are two vacancies for voluntary lay advisers for Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements in the Dyfed-Powys area.

This role is suitable for someone who:

  • Can understand complex information in written and numerical form
  • Lives in or has a strong connection to the Dyfed-Powys area
  • Is interest in community and social issues, preferably with a track record of involvement in them
  • Has the capacity for emotional resilience, retaining sensitivity whilst dealing with tragic or painful human situations. In particular, this includes an ability to understand the needs and feelings of both victims and offenders
  • Has good social skills
  • Is able to work effectively with people in groups and in formal meetings
  • Has an awareness of and commitment to equality and diversity
  • Is able to challenge, constructively, the views and assumptions of senior professionals
  • Is able to maintain confidentiality appropriate to the circumstances and local protocols
