Community Safety Foundation Training

About the training

We have developed foundation training e-learning for community safety practitioners, councillors and others working in community safety in Wales.

The training is currently being piloted with monthly cohorts of learners to gather feedback from participants and refine the content ahead of a full launch. This pilot offers a practical introduction to the structures, responsibilities, and partnerships that underpin community safety work across Wales.

The training is particularly relevant for:

  • New community safety practitioners
  • Elected members and councillors
  • Partner organisations working alongside Community Safety Partnerships
  • Anyone seeking a clearer understanding of community safety in Wales

This online, self-paced e-learning course provides a flexible way to build knowledge and confidence. It has been developed to give learners a strong foundation in:

  • The community safety landscape in Wales
  • Key organisations, roles and responsibilities
  • Partnership working and local delivery structures
  • Core themes and priorities within community safety

Learners can complete the training at a time and pace that suits them, making it accessible alongside existing work commitments.

Following the pilot, we will review all feedback and make any necessary improvements. The training will then be fully launched and made available bilingually, ensuring it is accessible to learners across Wales.
