The Safer Communities Awards are back to celebrate the people, partnerships and projects making a real difference to community safety across Wales. Nominations for the 2026 Awards are now open.
Hosted by the Wales Safer Communities Network, the fourth annual Safer Communities Awards will take place on Thursday 26 November 2026 at Newport Market, bringing together colleagues from across Wales to recognise outstanding contributions to preventing crime, reducing harm and creating safer communities.
The Awards shine a spotlight on the individuals, teams and partnerships whose dedication often goes unseen, but whose work has a lasting impact on the lives of individuals, families and communities. They provide an opportunity to celebrate innovation, collaboration and excellence in community safety.
Last year’s Awards celebrated outstanding work from across Wales, with joint overall winners Action for Children and Media Academy Cymru (Positive Masculinity) both recognised for their significant contribution to prevention, early intervention and community wellbeing. Their success demonstrates the wide range of initiatives making a positive difference to people and communities across Wales.
The Awards celebrate the diverse range of work being undertaken across Wales to prevent and reduce harm, support vulnerable people and strengthen communities. With thirteen categories available, there are opportunities to recognise individuals, partnerships and projects from across the community safety landscape.
Nominations can be submitted for any individual, organisation or project working in Wales, whether from the public, private or voluntary sector, and can be self-nominated or submitted by a third party. Entries may be completed in Welsh or English.
The nomination process is straightforward, requiring a short entry form outlining the impact made on communities or individuals and demonstrating how the work has delivered prevention, innovation and positive outcomes.
Nominations are open from Monday 27 July and close at 5pm on Friday 25 September 2026.
The awards ceremony will once again be hosted by broadcaster John-Paul Davies, who returns to help celebrate the achievements of community safety professionals from across Wales.
Mark Brace, Head of the Wales Safer Communities Network, said:
“The Safer Communities Awards are an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the dedicated people, partnerships and projects making communities safer across Wales. We encourage colleagues from all sectors to submit nominations and help showcase the outstanding work taking place every day.”
