The Safer Communities Awards are back to celebrate the work of projects, partnerships and people actively making communities safer across Wales.
The Wales Safer Communities Network will be hosting the awards on Thursday 27 November at Aberystwyth University, and entries are now open for nominations.
The Awards ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the great work being undertaken across Wales to prevent and reduce harm and make communities safer. Categories include Anti-Social Behaviour, Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) and Modern Slavery and Exploitation.
Last year’s overall winner, Swansea City Chill, was a prevention focussed partnership that promoted intergenerational community engagement, bringing together multiple partners to deliver the project. The 2024 awards also championed the work of teams, such as Gwent Police’s Serious Organised Crime team, and individuals, such as Elizabeth Ward from the North Wales Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Nominations are open to partnerships, teams or individuals working in community safety in Wales. Entries can be self-nominated, or you can nominate a colleague or team that you have worked with.
All nominations should be submitted by 5pm, Friday 3 October to be considered. Details about how to enter a nomination can be found on the Safer Communities Network website.
The awards ceremony will be hosted by TV presenter John-Paul Davies. Before his career in journalism John-Paul spent four years in the Police becoming the first Police Officer in twenty years from South Wales to gain a place on the Home Office Accelerated Scheme for Graduates.
