The Wales Safer Communities Network is hosting a webinar focused on the latest developments in road safety policy across Wales and the wider UK. The session will take place on Monday 23 February 2026, from 13:00 to 14:00, and is open to all practitioners with an interest in road safety in Wales.
Over recent months there has been significant activity in this policy area, including the publication of the UK Government Road Safety Strategy, multiple UK Government consultations and the forthcoming Welsh Government Road Safety Partnership Plan.
The webinar aims to provide attendees with a clear, up‑to‑date overview of what these changes mean for communities, practitioners, and partners.

- Ian Bradfield, Principal Policy Lead for Roads, Transport and Digital Connectivity at the Welsh Government
Both speakers will share updates on legislative developments, emerging workstreams, and ongoing strategic activity relating to road safety.

This webinar is designed to bring practitioners and stakeholders up to speed with the current road safety landscape, supporting informed decision‑making and collaborative working.
As part of the wider policy context, the Department for Transport currently has several open consultations related to road safety, all of which close on 31 March 2026:
- Mandating vehicle safety technologies in GB type approval
- Introducing mandatory eyesight testing for older drivers
- Introducing a minimum learning period for learner drivers
- Proposed changes to penalties for motoring offences
- Improving moped and motorcycle training, testing and licensing
