Safer Communities Awards are back for a second year

The Safer Communities Awards are back for the second year running to celebrate the work of projects, partnerships and people actively making communities safer across Wales.

The Wales Safer Communities Network has announced today that the awards will be taking place on Thursday 28 November at Wrexham Football Club, and entries are now open for nominations.

The awards will be hosted by TV presenter John-Paul Davies. Before his career in journalism John-Paul spent four years in the Police becoming the first Police Officer in twenty years from South Wales to gain a place on the Home Office Accelerated Scheme for Graduates.

The Awards Ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the great work being undertaken across Wales to prevent, reduce and make communities safer in categories such as Anti-Social Behaviour, Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence and Modern Slavery and Exploitation.

Those wishing to nominate a partnership, team or project that they or a colleague have worked on should do so by Friday 11 October to be considered. Details about how to enter a nomination can be found on the Safer Communities Network website.

Mark Brace, Head of the Wales Safer Communities Network said:

“Following the success of the inaugural awards we’re delighted to be opening entries for the second year of the Safer Communities Awards.

“This Award programme provides a platform to showcase the variety of great work taking place across Wales and it is a pleasure for the Network to be able to bring colleagues together to celebrate the individuals and innovative thinking that makes change happen.”

The Network is overseen by the Safer Communities Board for Wales, which aims to ensure effective shared leadership is provided to support local partnership working that promotes safe, strong, confident communities.
