Several Wales-based practitioners and organisations have been recognised at the UK-wide Resolve Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awards, highlighting the strength of community safety work taking place across Wales.
The Resolve ASB Awards celebrate outstanding individuals, initiatives and organisations working to prevent and respond to anti-social behaviour. The 2026 awards ceremony was held in Nottingham in February, with almost 200 nominations received from across the UK.
Among those recognised were three Wales-based runners-up:
Practitioner of the Year – PC Jonathan Abel, South Wales Police
PC Jonathan Abel, ASB Co-ordinator for South Wales Police, was named runner-up in the Practitioner of the Year category. Covering the Merthyr Tydfil and Cynon areas, PC Abel was recognised for his sustained work in addressing persistent anti-social behaviour and improving outcomes for local communities.
The collaborative relationships he has cultivated with partners, his extensive knowledge of ASB legislation, and his drive to enhance the quality of life within the communities he serves have all contributed to this achievement. With nearly 200 submissions received overall, being shortlisted and named runner-up represents significant and well-deserved national recognition.
Police Initiative of the Year – Trecco Watch, Porthcawl
Trecco Watch, based in Porthcawl, was runner-up in the Police Initiative of the Year category. The initiative was recognised for its innovative and partnership-led approach to addressing anti-social behaviour and protecting a popular coastal resort.
Led by South Wales Police and working closely with Parkdean Resorts and Bridgend County Borough Council, the initiative combines situational crime prevention, intelligence sharing and early intervention. The partnership approach also enabled police and partners to anticipate and respond quickly to repeat ASB, preventing escalation and protecting both visitors and the local community.
Local Authority of the Year – Cardiff Council
Cardiff Council was named runner-up in the Local Authority of the Year category, recognising the authority’s commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour and supporting safer communities at scale.
The award reflects sustained effort across services, partnership working, and effective use of powers and interventions to reduce harm, support residents and respond to community concerns.
National recognition for Wales
The achievements of Welsh nominees were praised by Resolve CEO Rebecca Bryant, who highlighted the strength of community safety work across the country:
