Vacancy: Violence Prevention Senior Policy Officer

The South Wales Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is seeking a Senior Policy Officer to support the Violence Prevention Unit (VPU) in embedding a whole-system, public health approach to violence prevention across South Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape policy, influence practice, and drive meaningful change to reduce violence—particularly that affecting children and young people.

The postholder will support the delivery of the South Wales VPU Delivery Plan and the South Wales Police, Crime and Justice Plan 2025–2029, translating strategic priorities into practical, evidence-informed action. Working across portfolios such as violence prevention, criminal justice, early intervention, vulnerability, and safeguarding, the role will ensure policy is grounded in the lived experiences of those most affected by harm.

This is a high-impact opportunity to influence how South Wales responds to serious violence and exploitation—ensuring time, money, and resources are focused on the things that prevent harm before it happens.

The post is based in South Wales, with agile and flexible working arrangements in place.
