VAWDASV Blueprint – Group Concept Mapping Study

The Welsh Government Perpetrator Policy Team has commissioned the University of South Wales (USW) to establish an agreed definition of efficacy in relation to perpetrator interventions that will inform a Welsh Government position statement and to support the development of consistent commissioning and measurement of interventions to reduce perpetration.

USW would be delighted if you would take the opportunity to contribute and offer your thoughts and views in order to help shape the position statement and the future of intervention delivery in Wales. It is vital to have a broad range of perspectives to make any resulting position statement meaningful. USW are hoping to have up to 100 participants in total. The study is led by USW academics Dr Sarah Wallace and Prof Emily Underwood-Lee, who co-chair the VAWDASV Research Network for Wales.

At this stage in their work, the study team are inviting VAWDASV Blueprint Tackling Perpetration workstream stakeholders to take part in an online Group Concept Mapping (GCM) study. This GCM study will be hosted online with an optional in person workshop, which you will be able to attend in either North or South Wales. You will be asked to complete three online tasks in two stages, which will be approximately 2-3 weeks apart:

  • Stage 1: Brainstorming Task – You generate statements in response to one single sentence, for example “In the context of perpetrator interventions, efficacy means…”.
  • Stage 2: Sorting Task – You individually sort all the study statements generated into preferred piles.
  • Stage 3: Rating Task – You rate each study statement against two scales, for example “importance” and “achievability”.

Each task will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You can access these tasks in your own time and at a location convenient to you.  The stage 1 brainstorming activity will be completed by you independently online.  For stage 2 ‘sorting’ and stage 3 ‘rating’, you will be invited to a facilitated workshop where you will be supported to complete these activities.

Your participation in this research will be anonymous. You will be asked for some basic information about your professional role and expertise. If you do share anything that the research team believe could be used to identify you, this will be anonymised by the research team.

If you are willing to take part in the study to help shape the delivery of perpetrator interventions in Wales, please follow this link to register.

Once you have consented, you will be able to access the link to click through and enrol onto the software using your email and prompted to create a password known only to you.
