New Resource: YMCA Positive Masculinity Project

Toolkit

YMCA Cardiff has launched a new Positive Masculinity Project, providing valuable resources to support practitioners, parents, and anyone working with boys and young men. The project, funded by Welsh Government innovation funding, has already engaged over 500 young people across Cardiff and the Vale to explore issues around masculinity, relationships, and online influences.

Central to the project is a practical toolkit – “Supporting Boys and Young Men in the Digital Age” – available in both Welsh and English, which aims to help adults start open, informed conversations about healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing, and the pressures young men face today. The resource highlights how social media, peer pressure, and stereotypes can shape attitudes, while also demonstrating that many boys are willing to challenge harmful norms when given safe spaces to talk.

This resource is particularly helpful for those working in community safety, education, and youth settings, supporting wider efforts to promote respectful relationships and prevent harmful behaviours. It offers practical guidance, insights from young people themselves, and tools to build confidence in having these important conversations.
